MY TIIDELab EXPERIENCE 4.0

It has been a great journey so far, always moving forward and getting better by the days. My fourth month experience in TIIDElab as a fellow comes with a special advancement in the Tech training and is with great pleasure to share every moment of it with everyone reading this article.

We are half way down the journey, indeed time really flies. We started this month with a few days holiday, a time to refresh, reapproach, and appreciate how we have grown as well as looking forward to acquire the best out of the months left.

On our return, we were given a brief advice by big brother to fasten our belt and do what is expected of us to get the best out of the second phase of this journey.

Like I said earlier, this Month comes with special advancement as we goes to our various stack of our choice which is either Frontend or Backend (React.js or Node.js). We were also regroup in our peer learning sections in alignment to our stacks. Rounding the first week activities, we were introduced to basics JavaScript knowledge we must know to ease our React learning.

Progressing to the second week of this beautiful journey, proper introduction to react was done.

I have always believe react to be a framework until this day. React does not posses core framework functionalities such as routing instead it uses an external library(react-router), for services it uses axios and fetch. Unlike VUE angular which posses this core functionalities are JavaScript framework. Basics advantages of React was also highlighted for us given the fact that’s a library will enhance our JavaScript knowledge, lighter than most framework, components reusability, scalability and efficiency. After this wonderful introduction, I couldn’t help but make more research, visit YouTube channels and digest as much as possible about React.js. Everything about it feels positive and I just can’t wait to start coding react.

Swiftly after the introduction, it’s time to install the react app but before then, we learnt about React virtual DOM. If you ever wonder why react is so fast on web pages, here is one of the reasons. React virtual DOM is a copy or duplicate that is kept in the memory(Original DOM) and this makes it possible for react to update a particular section of the web page without reloading the entire page. It only compares the changes and update instead of reloading the whole page.

React can be installed in two major ways which includes the react build tools and react tools chain. The react build tools method is a scratch installation of React with the aid of tools such as babel, in the other hand, react tools chain is a library that makes use of create react app or preact for installation. Either method of installation is of no harm but different in complexity of installation. Agreeing to simplicity, we installed our react using the create react app.

Let’s dive outside the class activities, our Friday meetings continue as well as head of house challenge. It’s always entertaining, educating and fun whenever we meet.

Seeking for guidance and knowledge from people whom have trailed the same path you’ve embarked on can only makes your journey easy and shade you away from unforeseen mistakes. TIIDElab past fellows visited us, it was good to hear from them. We were motivated from their testimonies on how they’ve benefited from the same place we are. Words of encouragement was showered on us with evidence of their individuals growth after their TIIDELab fellowship program.

Along the software training, TIIDElab also offers good skills training. The pitching skills was taught as it highlight value preposition and Prioritize relevant in ideas. Also negotiations skills as it entails the our personal ability to communicate clearly on a bargaining table. This skill is important because of it convincing power to propagate you and your ideas.

It’s overwhelming seeing how I have grown within this few months in TIIDElab. Sometimes I look back to how it all started, the journey is full of challenges, lessons and achievements. I can only be grateful for the amazing opportunity TIIDElab offered me and also to my co-fellows, you guys are wonderful.

Drawing the curtain to this amazing experience, I want to appreciate the Management of TIIDElab for creating this wonderful platform to build future world leaders, Your effort is indeed visible and luminous.I truly appreciate our big brother and tutors for your tireless effort towards giving us the best in this fellowship. I have never experienced an amazing teamwork like this. Once again, thank you!!

Thank you for reading my fourth months experience. Stay tuned for article 5.0.
