They don’t have fun

I wrote this macabre little piece in my late teens. We lived near a dairy farm, so when winter came, so did the mice and rats. A mousetrap I set behind our refrigerator caught three mice in one day.

This rhyme kept running through my head that evening, so I jotted it down in a small notebook where I wrote an unknown number of poems and thoughts up until the notebook was lost in my late 20s.

I showed the notebook to none of my family and only a few friends. I am now reproducing as many as I can remember and publishing them here on Medium.

I list these under the title, From The Lost Notebook.
