Animals and Media

When people tend to think of the meaning behind each animal is known from a wide range of media, but nobody realizes that each species of animal have their own enough meaning. When reading the chapter, you get to understand that there are so many ways that animals are used in media and advertisement by expressing the animal’s behavior. The chapter shows how to adjust to it, matter to us, attributes, and the predator hold. To get a better understanding of animals we resort to, “the pop culture messages from your preconceived notions of what the animals are like, especially if you don’t have sufficient personal experience and knowledge to bring to the table” (Corbett 178) this means you are not able to disconnect from the pop culture just by messages. We try to understand what animals do on a type of level that is going deeper than we can even understand in terms of own experiences, language, and emotions.
Animals that are used as symbols and early age, animals are the perfect shorthand communication as part of an environmental group that going to try and visualizes the group they represent. “We used animals as devices, metaphors, and symbols for a great deal of our expression and ideas.” (Corbett 180) Based on the meaning that the advertisement trying the animal can differ on species and another one is the physical characteristics or abilities, attributing certain feeling and motives to certain animals. Thinking that animals can be very symbolic such as too little kids and the materials that they are reading as well learning more about different types of animals and how they interact in their own environment.
The chapter that I chose the “Eating Animals (Foer, Chapter 1)” upon looking at the title people first thought goes to a case about vegetarianism or how meat was processed but that’s is not what the author trying to imply he said, “It’s a telling assumption, one that implies not only that a thorough inquiry into animal agriculture would lead one away from eating meat” (Foer 13), my first thought before reading the chapter that it was discussing the ways that meat is processed, giving the message that more people should consider vegetarianism for the animals. It also explained a story about a dog named George and discussed a case for eating dogs, even though our country is taboo against dog eating other countries, for example, the Indians, who love their cows, sometimes eat their dogs.
The last and final thing would be advertising that gives an impact on animals and how they influence the pop culture. The point of view by media providing messages using animals as the center point. Although people can accept that advertising is connected to pop culture and that news media is not but as more of a social institution. When it comes to mass media about wildlife actually takes up a large part of environmental news coverage, it is either when someone is making a claim about them, or when the boundaries (symbolic) between humans and wild animals overlap or blur.
