PREMISES OF SHARING ECONOMIES

It is important to stay real-time informed, as the world changes dramatically on a daily basis. Not to mention that one has to be a realist so as to collect appropriate data and information around them.

Tourism, a service-based industry, has proceeded to digitalization long time ago. Exploiting the immaturity of the digitalized era, big companies generate pivotal revenues via sharing economies, without having warranties for their services.

A case in point, which I have already demonstrated in the past, is Booking(dot)com that promotes the service of non-cancelation policies in accommodation options, a product that is illogical since neither TO/TA nor other travel agencies ever had this as a merit. Another case is Airbnb, which from now on provides its costumers with tours and excursions at the lowerest market rates, supported by suppliers who crush their products at the first force majeure.

Nevertheless, my stand is not to criticize the modern trend, but to emphasize the importance of human factor behind the nice visual material of B2B and B2C channels. It is unprofessional to operate with the belief that we get of what we pay by distinguishing the travelers into mass and luxury tourism subsequently.

My father taught me the meaning of lean entrepreneurship — testing, iterating, and pivoting your business, and maintaining that principle when the business scales. This the start point of any business — making profits! Playing with revenues is challenging, but in this way, we mock the clients, simply because every product has its net price that cannot be lessened.
