What happened within these walls of this hospital?

Bought an old psychiatric hospital to renovate into a hotel, and we found something sinister that happened behind these walls.

My husband and I decided to buy this old psychiatric hospital to renovate into a hotel. Our town does not have much in it and it is getting bigger and bigger. We knew this was going to be a huge asset to our community. Everyone wanted to have something done with this old hospital. It was getting old and derelict.

We got to work right away on the place. Hired out contractors to help us because this was a pretty massive place. Hired electricians, and plumbers. The faster we could get things done the sooner we could start getting people into the place.

We decided to do just one floor at a time and get people in on the floor we finish and worry about the rest after. We knew it would be a huge challenge even doing one floor at a time but this is something we wanted to bring to the community. We had not lived here for long but after seeing the price of this old place and seeing so many tourists come in and have to drive out of town to stay overnight. This is something this town needed.

Starting in the front and working our way back to each of the rooms. We left it as it was with the rooms being the new rooms. Of course new flooring new walls. Big conference room at the end of one hall. A bar at the other end of the hall.

Behind the reception was a big room, which I think used to be where the patients ate. We made that into a restaurant. Down the left hall was the director’s office. They had left a bunch of papers, the files were still filled with papers for each of the patients.
