Module 11

In the last few years , there has been new developments in digital technologies that can impact society in both negative and positive ways. Our society is becoming more dependent on technology and which is not neccessarily a good for the human race since its been linked to depression and other mental and/or developmental issues. With that being said, with the right understanding and application of these technologies we can use it in ways that benefit people rather then harm them. In this blog, I will be discussing ways in which 5G, Digital Extended Realities, and 3D printing can shape a more positive digital future.

The most recent iteration of mobile technology is 5G. For existing networks, 5G speed is unlike any other internet speed we’ve seen before. Since the connection is 100 times more than 4G, we will see more driverless cars that can safely operate, potentially more smart cities, and better media qualities with VR applications for everyone.

The term “extended reality” (or “XR”) refers to computer-generated settings that combine the actual and virtual worlds or provide consumers a fully virtual experience. This newest form of technology will can impact humans live both positively and negatively. A positive application of this technology is VR system that creates complex landscapes where physical and digital elements interact in actual time by fusing the real and the virtual worlds. This can allow people to genuinely feel like they can connect on a deeper level than just a video or phone call and also be out of touch with reality.

3D printing will powerfully affect the world more positively and negatively. Ultimately technology is known for making human lives more easy with less work put into task and more for machines. With 3D printing it , almost anything can be very accesible to you if you can print out anything, from a new cup to a chair. 3D printing can great for countries underdeveloped because they would also have access into creating necessities such as pencil for students.
